Fools Regatta in the Turks and Caicos Islands

This weekend was the the Fools Regatta in the Turks and Caicos Islands. A  fun Turks and Caicos event that celebrates sailing. Featuring yachts, sloops and boats of all sizes, races, tug of war competition it was a fun packed day of events under a perfect blue sky. Birding in Paradise and the launch of the “water wise” garden.

This morning His Excellency the Governor officially launched a new series of bird watching books designed to help support the extension of the tourist season into the summer months and open a new garden at the Museum site on providenciales which will be used to demonstrate and promote effective water conservation across the TCI. It took place at the National Museum of the TCI’s site at the Village, Grace Bay. Yesterday saw the first day of “TACC” a travel conference held in Turks and Caicos every May for the top travel wholesalers, airlines and online travel agents (Expedia). The three day event allows these top travel professionals to see first hand the islands, hotels, resorts and facilities that they offer to their clients. Turks and Caicos Annual Kite Flying Competition

Yesterday was the 22nd Annual Kite Flying competition with events held in South Caicos, North Caicos and on Grand Turk on Saturday. On Provo the fun began around 10am with kites starting to fly, easter egg hunts and lots of fun for all the family. Despite the day starting off slightly overcast it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm on the beach as kite after kite rose into the sky.
