“Fort Shevchenko” was a Soviet Navy vessel transformed into a cargo ship named “La Famille Express.” The watercraft made his last voyage in 2004, and he now rests in the transparent and shallow waters of the Atlantic archipelago.

The most famous shipwreck of Turks and Caicos is often visited by tourist and treasure hunters but, this time, it was a kiteboarder who decided to explore its potential.

After carefully analyzing the rusty carcass, Shewfelt found the perfect spot for his kite jump attempt.

“After a first successful climb, my kiteboard fell off with my leash. The second time, the board made it, but when I jumped off I had an SD card error! So, the third time was a charm!” explained Dylan Shewfelt.

“La Famille Express” can be found two miles of off Long Bay Beach at Providenciales.
