The Turks & Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) is gearing up to welcome Southwest’s non – stop flight from Baltimore/Washington (BWI) to Providenciales, Turk & Caicos Islands (PLS). The inaugural flight is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 7th, 2020 and arrive in PLS at 2:25pm.
The flight from Baltimore/Washington International, Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) will depart their home base at 10:55am and will arrive in the Turks & Caicos Islands after a three-and-a-half-hour flight. Passengers will have the option to connect through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport as well, on their journey to these tropical islands. The flight will conduct an aircraft switch earlier in the day with passengers departing at 12:40pm aboard the aircraft arriving from Fort Lauderdale in order to arrive back to BWI at 4:15pm, just in time for dinner.
This flight will operate once per week on Saturdays only for a six-week period. This winter period will serve as a relief for passengers looking for warmth and bright sunshine.
The inaugural flight will be welcomed with the customary water canon salute from the Airport Fire Services. The flight will arrive full with 143 scheduled passengers aboard the maiden voyage. Flights are currently being sold online at the Southwest website and is having very good reception by patrons.
Southwest Airlines continues to add flights to the Caribbean and as of February 2020, Southwest has scheduled flights to approximately 102 destinations. They will also be launching flights to Cozumel, Mexico in March of 2020 adding to its already impressive catalog of flights.
Southwest Airlines began operations to the Turks & Caicos Islands since November of 2017 and has faithfully served the traveling public ever since.
