Feast on creative new conch dishes or return to local favorites like conch fritters and cracked conch. The event showcases conch prepared in multiple ways and patrons can taste their way around the Turks and Caicos Islands by visiting the numerous restaurant vendors featured at the Conch Festival.
Conch is a traditional dish in the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Conch Festival is a celebration of that significant aspect of our culture and heritage. The highlight of the festival is the competition, or ‘conch-e-tition’ as the organizers have nicknamed it, between local restaurants. Our local chefs and restaurants will compete in categories which include Best Conch Salad, Best Conch Chowder, Best Conch Specialty, Best Presentation and Best In Show. Past Conch Festivals have also included a conch fritter eating competition and a home kitchen competition. Restaurants will be judged by a carefully selected group of judges and winners will collect cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights.
Now in its fifteenth year, the Turks and Caicos Conch Festival has enjoyed tremendous, consistent support from residents and visitors over the years. The community of Blue Hills becomes lively with activity as the local bands and cultural dance groups keep the crowds entertained. The Conch Festival is free to attend however if you purchase a tasting pass, you’ll have access to sample conch dishes for the entire day. There are also food vendors available on site offering other native dishes and merchants offering souvenirs to commemorate your Turks and Caicos Conch Festival experience.
The Turks and Caicos Conch Festival is fun for the whole family and with the perfect backdrop of Blue Hills Beach, it is the perfect way to spend a day outside of Grace Bay.
