Turks & Caicos is the prefect retreat for discerning travelers who choose the destination for its unspoiled natural environment, beautiful white sand beaches and its friendly and hospitable people. The Turks and Caicos Islands are made up of forty islands and cays of which only nine are inhabited. This provides the opportunity for travelers to have diverse experiences as they discover the uniqueness of each of the Sister Islands

If you’re planning a visit to Turks and Caicos, venture off the beaten path with these four experiences:

1. Mudjin Harbour, Middle Caicos

Arguably the best views in the Turks & Caicos Islands are from the infamous Mudjin Harbour in Middle Caicos, the largest island in the Turks & Caicos chain. The breathtaking view of the dramatic limestone cliffs extend as far as the eyes can see and are complemented by endless turquoise waters. Be sure to pack your walking shoes for a slight hike up the hill to see the praying hands sculpture. Next, follow along the stoned trail to a hidden staircase, where upon your descent you will find yourself on the pristine Mudjin Harbour Beach – perfect for a private picnic lunch.

2. Whale Watching in Salt Cay

Upon your arrival to the quaint island of Salt Cay you are greeted by a sign that says ‘Welcome to Salt Cay – The Island of Adventure’. You may be surprised that this small island, at only 2.5 square miles, is known as an island of adventure. However, Salt Cay is the ideal location for an authentic island retreat with its rustic charm. It also offers a front row seat to view the migrating humpback whales during January to April annually. Plan a day trip or dual stay on Salt Cay which is accessible via ferry or flight from Grand Turk or Providenciales.

3. Bonefishing in South Caicos

South Caicos is known locally as the ‘Fishing Captial of the Turks & Caicos Islands’ based on its historical and present day abundance for fish, conch and lobster which is supplied to all the Sister Islands. While South Caicos is ideal for all types of fishing – including bottom fishing and deep sea fishing – bonefishing on the pristine flats makes for a memorable experience. The skillful hunt for bonefish is considered a sport for some and South Caicos is the best place in the world to play. After a fun filled day on the water, enjoy a local meal in the heart of Cockburn Harbour featuring your catch of the day.
