There is a puppy asleep on the floor next to me and it’s the fault of my wife and our 17-year-old daughter, Emma.
While on vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands, my wife and Emma were the ones who insisted that we take a puppy living in a local dog shelter known as Potcake Place for a walk.
Potcake Place volunteers rescue and find homes for the hundreds of stray dogs known as “potcakes,” which roam the islands.
I knew if my wife and Emma walked a puppy they would want to take it home. I also knew that, despite my wife and Emma swearing to me that they would take care of the puppy once we got it home, I would be stuck with the job.
