Turks and Caicos Tourism Month
The Turks & Caicos Islands Tourist Board in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and our partners celebrate Tourism Environmental Awareness Month each November. We are pleased to present our 2020 theme: ‘Rediscover Turks & Caicos’.
The Turks & Caicos Islands Tourist Board and our partners will be hosting a number of events virtually due to the restrictions imposed by the current COVID-19 pandemic. The overall aim for the month is to reinforce and reignite an appreciation for Turks & Caicos among locals and encourage locals to discover the uniqueness of each Sister Island.
The general public is invited to join us at the following events which will be live on our Facebook page ‘Turks & Caicos Tourist Board Press’.
Our signature event will be our second annual Tourism Symposium which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday November 18th from 10:00am to 12:00pm (Eastern Time).
The Symposium’s keynote address ‘Challenges and Opportunities: Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic’ will be delivered by Neil Walters, Acting Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). The Symposium will also feature a panel discussion featuring local professionals on the topic ‘Community Based Tourism Development: Safeguarding Our Culture’.
Our primary school art competition is designed to reflect the natural beauty, history, and cultural heritage of the people in the islands and using the above theme to entice visitors as well as residents to ‘Rediscover Turks and Caicos Islands… Through the Eyes of a Child’ through original and creative poster designs.
An invitation is extended to the general public in Turks and Caicos to submit a video on how visitors as well as residents can ‘Rediscover Turks and Caicos Islands’. The winning video will receive a $1,000 cash prize.
