Turks & Caicos – Caribbean’s Leading Beach Destination

Discover These Five Beaches in our Sister Islands

The Turks and Caicos Islands, known for its pristine, white sand beaches, added another award to its extensive list of accolades earlier this year. At the 2020 Caribbean & North America Gala of the World Travel Awards held in January destination Turks and Caicos took home the coveted award for Caribbean’s Leading Beach Destination once again. Persons who have visited our shores and those who are privileged to call these ‘Beautiful by Nature’ islands home all agree – Turks and Caicos has the best beaches in the world.

Unspoiled, tranquil, and crystalline are just some of the words used to describe the beaches throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands. Most visitors to the islands are first introduced to the world renowned 12-mile Grace Bay Beach located in Providenciales. However, the Turks and Caicos Islands has several underrated and often under visited beaches which are worth the journey to explore and enjoy. Each of our sister islands are unique and offer visitors an opportunity to indulge their adventurous side with an ‘off the beaten path’ experience.

Here is a list of five beaches to add to your must-visit list along with Grace Bay Beach.

Long Bay Beach, Providenciales

Located on the south-east side of the island of Providenciales, Long Bay Beach boasts 3 miles of unspoiled, pristine beach. Long Bay Beach is not only popular for kiteboarding, but the beach is also a haven for families looking to experience crystal clear water that is shallow, calm and ideal for swimming. The offshore La Famille Express shipwreck also makes for a picturesque and daring adventure.

Guanahani Beach, Grand Turk

This beach is located in the nation’s capital Grand Turk and is the legendary site of the landfall of Christopher Columbus in the West Indies in 1492. While Grand Turk’s Governor’s Beach is more popular, especially for cruise tourists, Guanahani Beach offers visitors a beautiful secluded beach experience.

Bambara Beach, Middle Caicos

Bambara Beach ranks highly on my personal list of favourite beaches in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Located on the largest island, Middle Caicos, the beach is the site of the annual Valentine’s Day Cup model sailboat races. Bambara Beach is known for its clear, tranquil water and powder-like sand.

North Bay Beach, Salt Cay

Salt Cay, our own little island of adventure, offers exciting Humpback whale watching excursions, and opportunities to swim alongside them during the winter months from December through to April. Salt Cay also has magnificent beaches including North Bay Beach which is the perfect spot for relaxing and snorkeling.

Bell Sound Beach, South Caicos

South Caicos is often touted as the ‘Fishing Capital’ of these islands however little is often publicized about the beautiful beaches in South Caicos. Bell Sound Beach is a local favorite and features unspoiled shores with breathtaking views.

There are many more beaches to explore in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is no surprise our destination is emerging as the most sought after in the Caribbean and the destination of choice for discerning travelers.
